The interchangeability of cup and cones with other manufacturer’s components
is a very sensitive issue with manufacturers. This is because a manufacturer’s
internal tolerances may be different. Interchange a cup form one manufacturer
and a cone from another could result in the components not mating well,
thereby reducing the performance level of the product.
As a rule of thumb, Tyson believes that if the cup or cone is made to
ABMA specifications, then it is appropriate to interchange with a Tyson
product. If one of the components is not made to ABMA standards the internal
geometry may be produced to different standards then there is a greater
chance of accelerated failure. The majority of product manufactured by
world class bearing suppliers is produced to ABMA standards.
Below is the Tyson part numbers with interchange information with the
primary suppliers to the aftermarket.
